We love pets, however, we are not a pet friendly hotel. We admit certified service animals as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The act requires that the animal be trained in a specific service to aid its owner. Comfort or support animals are not recognized by the ADA. Service animals must be on leash at all times outside of guest rooms.
Any unauthorized pets found on property will incur a mandatory $500 deep cleaning charge.

Guests traveling with a total of 5 or more rooms are considered a group booking, regardless of if the reservations were made by each individual guest. Group bookings automatically incur an extended 30 day cancellation policy.

The ground floor comprises our Lobby, Boutique, and 12 rooms (Surfer’s Hideout, 1 Ground Floor ADA Room and 10 Ground Floor Rooms).
The second floor comprises our communal Library (just above the lobby), and 8 rooms (2 Upstairs Side Rooms [with partial ocean views], 3 Ocean Facing Rooms and 2 Suites.
The third floor features our guest-only Restaurant and Roof Deck (with the best views in Malibu!).
All of our rooms feature one Queen sized bed. Our 2 suites (Surfrider & Malibu) each feature one California King sized bed. We do not offer any rooms featuring 2-bed configurations.
All of our rooms have a maximum occupancy of 2 guests. If you are traveling with a child please contact us directly at info@thesurfridermalibu.com.
We have three sets of adjoining rooms. All rooms have one Queen bed except for The Surfrider Suite and Malibu Suite which both have California King beds. Please email the front desk at info@thesurfridermalibu.com for assistance.

Our Front Desk team can coordinate transfers to/from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX; 22.2 miles / 35.7 km one way) and Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR; 35 miles / 56 km one way). Transfers are subject to additional charges and require 72 hours advance notice.
Uber and Lyft are available in the area. Based on our location we recommend scheduling a car share in advance. If you prefer to use a taxi please contact the Front Desk.

We offer an extremely limited number of buyouts per year giving guests the opportunity to have an entire hotel to themselves, much like your very own California beach house, complete with a full staff. If you’re interested in reserving the hotel in it’s entirety, please request a proposal and our team will reach out to you as soon as possible.
Sleeping capacity: 20 bedrooms, maximum of 2 people per room; Total sleeping capacity for 40 people.
For weddings, The Surfrider is best used as a base camp for the weekend, a place to have your nearest and dearest stay and a few others join for special events. We do not do “the big event” onsite unless it’s aligned with The Surfrider (i.e. intimate, casually luxe, barefoot sophistication) rather, we are better served for the more relaxed peripheral moments such as welcome cocktails, rehearsal dinners, morning after brunch, breakfast and lunch for the wedding party and a place for your friends and family to enjoy throughout the weekend.
The Surfrider does not have a formal meeting space on property. With a full property buyout, the lobby and library can be used as an informal meeting space able to accommodate up to 10 people at the communal table.
